Italy 5 Euro Silver Coin 2014 Semester of Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union
As from July 1, 2014 and throughout the following six months Italy will take the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the institution that represents the governments of all the member States. Here the ministers from each EU country meet to adopt laws and coordinate policies. During the Italian Presidency, our Country will be chairing meetings at any level, submitting guidelines and drawing up the compromises needed by the Council to take decisions.
Obverse: Bust of Ceres, as an allegory of Italy, drawn from the fresco Venus, Juno and Ceres painted by the school of Raffaello Sanzio after drawings in the maestro’s hand for the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche of Villa Farnesina in Rome; around, the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”; in the left field, the name of the artist ”A.
