Obverse: A profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In the central part of the coin: a stylized image of the celluloid with selected scenes depicting interesting cartoon characters. To the left, at the top, along the edge the inscription: ELIZABETH II, to the right: 1 Dollar, the mark of the Mint: MW. At the bottom the inscription: Niue Island.

Reverse: In the central part of the coin – the image of Reksio holding three balloons in his hand and the images of his dear friends: the rooster and the cat. In the background – the meadow. At the bottom - the colourful wildflowers. At the top - the semicircular inscription: REKSIO

Reksio is a Polish cartoon character from the TV animated series by the same title. Reksio was created by a Polish director Lechosław Marszałek. Its 65 episodes were made from 1967 to 1990 in a Animated Films Studio (Studio Filmów Rysunkowych) in Bielsko-Biała that also made the more famous Bolek and Lolek. All episodes describe adventures of a friendly, piebald terrier dog named Reksio, with his animal friends—hens, cats, other dogs and their owners.

Cartoon Characters Series
The Mint of Poland presents the most fabulous series of commemorative coins entitled "Cartoon Characters". The latest coin of the series shows the image of "Reksio".

So far, in the series the following coins have appeared: "Mis Uszatek," "The Wolf and the Hare" (from the cartoon “Nu, pogodi!”) and "Bolek and Lolek". This collection, created especially for the youngest collectors, depicts well known and liked by children cartoon characters. The coins are legal tender in New Zealand. They have been struck on silver blanks, in a low mintage – up to 6,000 pieces. The images of the legendary cartoon characters are portrayed using pad printing technology.
