Canada 10 Dollars Silver Coloured Coin 2015 Superman: The Man of Tomorrow
A doomed planet. Desperate scientists. Their last hope. A kindly couple. Superman.
The DC Comics™ Originals series has a classic, slightly retro style, recalling the look most comic book fans grew up with and remember fondly. Basing itself on the DC Comics style of the 1980s, this series celebrates one of the most established looks for the DC Comics pantheon of super heroes, including those who have helped shape Superman's fate.
Saved from certain doom by his birth parents, the House of El would be preserved in the infant Kal-El, who was rocketed away from Planet Krypton. Forming his strong moral compass, his adoptive parents, the Kents, would teach him what it is to be human as Clark Kent. As Superman, his friends and allies remind him of the responsibility of his power, and help him stay true to his never-ending mission.
Crafted from 99.99% pure silver, this coin makes a wonderful gift for any fan of comic books, DC Comics™ and timeless super heroes! Available as a single or subscription, order yours today!
Obverse: Susanna Blunt’s design of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Reverse: This coin mimics a comic book splash page with a coloured and engraved rendition of Superman, flanked by those who helped forge his legacy. The Man of Tomorrow™ stands in the centre in a calm yet powerful stance; at the bottom on either side are scenes from his infancy, with the Els to the right and the Kents to the left. Also found to his left are his friend and long-time love interest Lois Lane, and friend and closest ally Batman. On Superman's right are his pal Jimmy Olsen and Wonder Woman™, whose strength and power often rival his own. Also engraved on the reverse within a spiked word balloon are the face value of "10 DOLLARS" and the year "2015".

Special features:
- A FIRST! First appearance of Batman and Wonder Woman on a Canadian coin!
- While selective colour recreates Superman's classic look, laser engraving technology applied to the secondary characters recreates the look of inked comic book art, while the contrast between sheen and shadows allows the characters to emerge from the background as part of the design's multi-layered feel.
- Where the past and present meet! Traditional engraving and finishes meet selective colour and cutting-edge laser engraving, giving this coin depth and the illusion of movement.
- Made by fans for the fans! A nod to these classic characters, with all the respect and devotion that only the Royal Canadian Mint can provide!
- Each coin in the series comes enclosed in unique packaging that recreates the look of a well-loved comic book—an added nod to the medium that first introduced these characters, but also a fun element that makes this series a one-of-a-kind collecting experience!
Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!
Endowed with a multitude of super powers—including strength, speed, flight, invulnerability as well as his renowned X-ray and heat vision—Superman is easily the most powerful being on the planet, but his amazing abilities are also a melancholic reminder of how different he is from the people he is dedicated to protecting. A universal icon, Superman means different things to the many diverse people he inspires, whether he is viewed as an alien entity, an immigrant from a faraway land who is just looking to help, or as a country boy fighting the never-ending battle for truth and justice.
Superman's first appearance preceded Batman's by only one year in 1938
Lois Lane appeared alongside Superman in Action Comics #1, making her Superman's longest lasting supporting character
Superman's pal, Jimmy Olsen, had his own DC COMICS™ title in the 1950s
Wonder Woman's first appearance was in All-Star Comics #8 in 1941.
Superman: The Man of Tomorrow
Superman: The Man of Tomorrow (MOT) is the title of a comic book series published by DC Comics that ran for 16 issues from 1995 to 1999, featuring the adventures of Superman. At the time, the four Superman titles (Action Comics, The Adventures of Superman, Superman, and Superman: The Man of Steel) were released weekly with an intertwining story. The Man of Tomorrow title was created to fill the extra week in months with five weeks. At about this time, however, DC began its fifth week events, disrupting the schedule of The Man of Tomorrow, and it was subsequently canceled with issue #15.
Issue #1,000,000 of the series was a part of the "DC One Million" storyline, which was a top vote-getter for the Comics Buyer's Guide Fan Award for Favorite Story for 1999.
Key issues:
MOT #1: Return of Lex Luthor after being absent from the comics since Action Comics #701 (July 1994).
MOT #5: Marriage of Luthor and Contessa Erica Del Portenza.
MOT #15: "Day of Judgement" cross-over. Superman has to rescue Lois Lane from Neron and Silver Banshee. Final issue.
