Trans-Europ-Express
The idea of The Trans-Europ-Express (TEE) was for a network of fast and comfortable international trains that would be attractive for businessmen and other regular travelers. At the beginning, in 1957, the railways of West Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands joined the network. All trains were first-class-only and all were expresses, stopping only at the main cities. The idea was to allow a business traveler to make a trip within a single day and also have time for business activity. The system was completely diesel network because at that time the different countries had different kind of electrical specifications.
