This beautiful series of $5 silver coins of Liberia is dedicated to significant milestones in the history of railroads. They feature the world’s most renowned trains in full-color stunning design. The PKP Fablok OL 49 coin is struck in .999 pure silver in proof quality.

The Liberian Coat of Arms occupies the obverse of the silver coin. It features a coastal landscape with a ship arriving in Liberia bringing the freed slaves from America. The national motto of Liberia ‘The love of liberty brought us here’ appears on a scroll above the shield. There are also the following legends: the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year.

The reverse features a vivid colored image of a Polish PKP Fablok OL 49 steam locomotive. These passenger steam trains were designed in 1949 and used in Poland by Polish State Railways, or PKP (Polskie Koleje Państwowe). Between 1951 and 1954, a total of 116 locomotives were manufactured by Fablok company, 112 for PKP and four for export to North Korea. The names of the coin and series are indicated along the rim of the coin. Issued with the limited mintage, each coin of the series reflects a chapter of world history and will be of particular interest to those collecting history-themed coins from around the world.
