Series History of Railroads in coloured silver - KKSTB 310.23
This Silver Proof coin from Liberia is part of a series of colorized Proof Silver coins paying tribute to historic railroads of the world.

The reverse of this coin is dedicated to the KKSTB 310.23 locomotive of Austria. The train is shown in color on a run somewhere in the forests of Austria and Hungary. First built in 1911 in Vienna by the State Railroad Company, this was a powerful 2-6-4 steam locomotive made for hauling trains through the varied terrain of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The obverse features the arms of Liberia dividing the date, and separating the legend and denomination. This proof legal-tender silver coin was minted under authority of the Government of Liberia from 20 grams of .999 fine silver and has a diameter of 38.6 millimeters.

The Liberian Coat of Arms occupies the obverse of the silver coin. It features a coastal landscape with a ship arriving in Liberia bringing the freed slaves from America. The national motto of Liberia ‘The love of liberty brought us here’ appears on a scroll above the shield. There are also the following legends: the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year.
