L'Amazone known at first under the name of Laos on the line of Far East. Affected to the line Bordeaux- Plata (South America) in 1903, it was renamed Amazone. It will go back to the service on the line of Far East in 1912, further to cancellation of the line of South America. The Amazone was destroyed in 1932 in Seyne.
The ocean liner is represented on the obverse in a dynamic way with its sails and its smoking chimneys. Its name, designed in a style reminiscent of transatlantic company posters of the time, completes the scenography of the obverse.
The reverse is a composition which is common to all the ocean liners and is featured in all five coins: a portion of porthole surmounted of ocean liners chimneys sending plumes of smoke in the airs.
